Go on a superhero adventure

Between the new Thor movie at the Admiral and the library's superhero reading theme this summer, I couldn't resist creating a superhero-themed adventure.

  • See the new Thor Love and Thunder movie at Admiral Theater.
    2343 California Ave SW
Hard to resist a Marvel movie!

Good to know: Tickets are $14 for adults and $11 for kids (1-11) or $11.50 for matinee showings (before 5pm).

  • Grab a bite at Gyro Heroes.
    4111 SW Admiral Way
I mean, heroes is right there in the name! Plus it's tasty, and makes me think about the original Greek superheroes—Zeus, Athena, and the whole Percy Jackson series.

    Good to know: Open 11am-9pm.

  • Discover comic books at Tails To Astonish.
4850 California Ave SW, Suite 101
New-ish and only comic book shop in WS. Has been on our list to check out, especially with a Ms. Marvel series they recently posted about. If you're curious to learn more, the WS Blog did a story last year about them.

Good to know: Open Tuesday-Saturday 11:30am-7pm, Sunday 9am-2pm and closed Monday. It's in the Hudson Square building up a set of stairs—tucked up off the street so we walked past it at first. There's also an accessible option too.

  • Find your superpower at the library.
This year's summer reading program has a superhero theme. Stop by one of our four West Seattle libraries to pick up a Superhero Action Guide and game board. The guide includes book suggestions and fun activities to find your superpower. I also saw a fun scavenger hunt for kids the last time I was at the Southwest Library.

Good to know: Hours vary by branch.
